Shaped: Engraving development for blow-molded plastic components.

31.10.2025 von Petra Engstle / Reading time: approx. 2 minutes

Blow molds are used in the plastics industry for the production of hollow bodies such as containers, bottles, tanks, seat shells, transport cases, pipe segments or packaging elements. A pre-heated, extruded plastic tube is inserted into the mold and inflated with compressed air. The resulting internal pressure forms the plastic precisely to the contours of the inner surfaces of the mold, resulting in components with high dimensional stability and low weight.

The product can be upgraded using an engraved surface. From functional textures to eye-catching branding elements, surface engravings are applied directly to the mold. Coordinated engraving development helps to ensure that the structures are suitable for the blow molding process and can be easily reproduced in series.
